Some ministers deliver
their message from a pulpit. Others use books
tracts or cable TV to carry God's word to the masses.
Ken Holloway comes to the world with simpler
tools.....a voice, a guitar, and a host of great
country songs. Once a star attraction in the
country bars and honky tonks of his native Lafayette,
Louisiana , Ken no longer sings about cheating hearts,
false starts and long weekends. Today Ken
Holloway uses the country music he loves and grew up on
to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Ken's 1994 self titled
debut album racked up a trophy case of awards and hit
songs. But, more importantly, in a genre of music
still in the process of defining itself, Ken Holloway
emerged as a pace setter, establishing himself and
Christian Country as powerful forces in the mix of
modern-day country music. From his self-titled
debut to the award winning " He Who Made The Rain
" release to the present " The Ordinary "
it's clear that Ken Holloway is moving into crucial
subject matter only hinted at in his previous
work.
" I want to call the
country back to the ordinary, everyday values of family
faith, and fidelity upon which it was built "
says Ken. " It's a call not just for the
church, but for the whole world "
While keeping in touch with the
easier going sound of his earlier work, on The
Ordinary Ken jacks up the energy level with
both high-octane country rockers and tender heart-felt
ballads. The result is one of the hottest
New Country albums of the year delivered by a man who
has eaten, slept, and breathed country music his whole
life.
The albums title number is
written on a foundation of devoutly Christian values,
carrying a message that's relevant
to an entire culture. " There are issues that demand to
be addressed from a Christian perspective " says
Ken. " We've got to sing about keeping marriages
together, and teach our kids to stay true to the Word
and save their bodies for the person their going to
marry. I have a 2-1/2 year old baby, a 13 year
old son and a 16 year old daughter, and believe me,
there's nothing like having kids of your own --
especially teenagers -- to bring all these issues right
to your own door. She's made me realize that
before The Ordinary, there was a whole
area of life that I hadn't even tapped into. The
world has changed, and I've changed, and it shows in my
music ".
The strength of the family and
traditional American values that are built on it,
are central to Ken, both the man, and
the musician. " To have a wife who stands behind
me and supports me in whatever I do, to pick me up when
I'm discouraged, and keep me going, is the greatest
gift God could have ever given me " says Ken. "
And my kids are just as supportive. Who they are
to me, and who I am as a husband and a father is
written all over this album ".
" I Never Will " Ken's
favorite song on the album, was written for his wife
Connie. " My wife and I have been married for 20
years and we're more in love than we've ever
been. there were times when, if she wasn't the
wife she is, she would have given up on me. "
I Never Will " is my assurance to her that because
she never gave up on me, I'll always be there for her
as well ".
Ken Holloway has become a
pace-setter and premiere artist and writer in Christian
Country. As The Ordinary carries
Ken to an even higher level of both recognition and
artistic growth, his focus and purpose has become even
clearer than ever. " I've found there's a real
evangelistic power in just building relationships and
friendships with people. Our families and our
world are falling apart and I want to remind them to
get back to our everyday, ordinary values of family and
faith. And that's for everyone, not just church
people. "
